WHAT IS A BEACON?
- Beacons are a new class of low powered transmitters that can notify a Bluetooth enabled device of their presence.
- Beacon technology works using the Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology, also known as Bluetooth Smart.
- Beacons broadcast a unique serial number for identification.
- Beacons comprise the location based component of a proximity positioning system designed to locate objects inside a specific area.
- GPS enabled detection devices can identify all types of Beacons and provide time stamped location information accurate to less than a meter.

There are three elements to a commercial grade Beacon solution. The Beacon, M2M/BLE Gateway and the Pharos Management System.
The Intellocate Solution differentiates itself by utilizing a best of breed beacon, two types of detection devices, a Smartphone/Tablet and a commercial M2M/BLE Gateway. Plus, the Pharos Management System is capable of collecting information from multiple beacon vendors.
PHAROS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The Pharos Management System is a database management system and distribution point for sensor and location information from Beacons or the Sho-Mee system. Pharos enables the user to monitor and manage information on any Property or Asset being tracked through a Sho-Mee HotSpot or Beacon detection network.
